Shaffer of Westminster, Md., brings 27 years of experience in all areas of institutional advancement to her new role at the college

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel College has named Vicky Shaffer as vice president for institutional advancement after serving in an interim capacity since May 2016. Shaffer is a resident of Westminster, Md. 

Shaffer brings 27 years of experience in all areas of institutional advancement, including strategic planning, technology and development support. She began her career at McDaniel as a prospect researcher and has held positions in advancement operations as assistant director of research and records, as well as director and executive director of advancement services. 

She has served as staff administrator for the McDaniel College Board of Trustees’ Governance and Institutional Advancement Committees and has been instrumental in the development of a comprehensive plan for the college’s current “Enduring Commitment” fundraising initiative. Shaffer previously had significant involvement in “Carpe Diem,” the largest capital campaign in the college’s history under President Joan Develin Coley, and “The Defining Moment,” the college’s first major comprehensive fundraising effort under President Robert Chambers.
